- 4 to 6 implants: hold a whole upper or lower row of teeth
- Teeth in a day: fixed temporary teeth on surgery day for many patients
- Zirconia: the usual material for the final bridge
Will the new teeth look like me?
They should. Before anything is made, Dr. Otteson asks what you like and don't like about your smile today, then plans the tooth shape, size and shade to suit your face. The goal is a smile people notice for the right reasons.
Planned around your face
Tooth length, width and shade are talked through with you before your bridge is made.
Steady when you bite
A fixed bridge is anchored to implants, so it doesn't rock or slide while you chew.
A clear path from start to finish
You'll know what happens at each visit, from your first X-rays to your final teeth.
Who does the implant surgery? Dr. Christian Otteson, DMD

Dr. Otteson plans and places full-mouth implants for Neighborhood Dental patients. He is the one dentist who provides All-on-X at all four Harmon and Otteson Dental offices in Las Vegas.
At your consultation he looks at the whole mouth, not just the gaps, and thinks about how your new teeth will hold up years from now. He'll lay out the options that make sense for you, simple or more involved, with the trade-offs of each, and then the choice is yours. Nobody will rush you.
Write down your questions and bring them. He'll go through every one. More about Dr. Otteson
What are All-on-4 and full-mouth implants?
It's a way to replace a whole upper or lower row of teeth with one fixed bridge held by a few dental implants in the jaw. The bridge doesn't come out at night: you brush it in place, and only your dentist takes it off, for cleanings and repairs.
Why are the back implants placed at an angle?
Toward the back of the jaw, bone often thins after teeth are lost, and the sinus (upper jaw) or a nerve (lower jaw) sits close by. Tilting the two back implants forward lets them reach thicker bone near the front, so each one gets a longer, firmer hold. For many people that means no bone graft, and four implants are enough to carry a full row of teeth. You may hear it called All-on-4, All-on-X or teeth in a day: all three describe this same fixed full-arch approach.

See how the new teeth attach
- The implants go in. Four or more implants, small posts that take the place of tooth roots, are set into the jawbone. The back two are tilted to use the firmest bone.
- Connectors go on. A small connector called a multi-unit abutment is fitted to each implant, so one bridge can attach even though the implants point in different directions.
- The bridge is fastened. Last, small screws fasten the full-arch bridge to the connectors, and it stays put in your mouth.
Could full-mouth implants work for you?
People usually look into this when most of the teeth in one jaw are gone or can't be saved. You can treat just the top, just the bottom, or both. Does any of this sound like you?
Your denture moves when you eat
Slipping, sore spots and adhesive every morning are what bring many people in to ask about fixed teeth.
Your remaining teeth are failing
Loose, broken or badly decayed teeth can often come out on the same day the implants go in.
You're missing most of a row
Instead of fixing one tooth at a time, the whole arch is planned and replaced together.
You've been told your bone is too thin
That's not necessarily the end of the road. Tilted implants often work with the bone you have, and we also do bone grafting when more is needed.
An exam and X-rays with Dr. Otteson will show which option fits your mouth.
How do fixed implant teeth compare with dentures?
When a whole row of teeth needs replacing, the big question is whether you want teeth that stay in or teeth that come out. Here's how the three main choices stack up once you've healed.
| Fixed implant bridge All-on-4 / All-on-X, held by implant screws | Snap-on implant denture Clips onto a few implants | Traditional denture Sits on the gums | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who removes it? | Only the dentist | You do, to clean it daily | You do, every night |
| How secure is it? | Fixed in place | Far steadier than a regular denture | Can shift when you chew or talk |
| What can you eat? | Most everyday foods | More than with a regular denture | Soft foods work best |
| Daily care | Brush it and clean underneath | Clean the denture and the implant clips | Take it out, brush it and soak it |

How long does the full-mouth implant process take?
The surgery happens in one day, and many people leave that day with fixed temporary teeth. After a few months of healing, the final bridge takes their place.
Free consultation and your plan
First visit
Dr. Otteson examines your mouth, takes X-rays and images of your jawbone, and talks through your choices. If you decide to go ahead, he maps out where each implant goes and how your new teeth should look. If you need a bone graft, that adds some time.
Teeth in a day
Surgery day
Many patients go home from surgery with fixed temporary teeth already in place. That day, teeth that can't be saved come out, the implants and connectors go in, and a temporary bridge is attached while everything heals.
Your final teeth
After healing
Once the implants have bonded with the bone, the temporary bridge is replaced with your final one, usually made of zirconia, shaped to your gums and adjusted to your bite.
What are surgery and recovery like?
Is full-mouth implant surgery painful?
Your mouth is numbed, so you shouldn't feel the surgery itself. If you're nervous, IV sedation and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) are available to help you relax. Expect some soreness and swelling for several days afterward; we'll send you home with medication and clear instructions.
How do I take care of my new teeth?
- Right after surgery: Stick to soft foods while the implants heal, and we'll let you know when to add firmer ones. Your speech may sound a little different for a few days while your tongue gets used to the bridge.
- Every day: Twice a day, brush the bridge and run a water flosser or floss threader underneath it. Before you go home, we'll walk you through it.
- Regular visits: Keep up with checkups and cleanings so your gums and implants stay healthy. From time to time we take the bridge off to clean it thoroughly.

Full-mouth implants: common questions
Is All-on-4 the same thing as full-mouth dental implants?
Mostly. All-on-4 means a full arch of fixed teeth held by four implants. Full-mouth implants is a wider term: it can mean more than four implants in an arch, or treating both the upper and lower jaw. Dr. Otteson will recommend the number of implants that suits your bone.
Can I do only my top teeth or only my bottom teeth?
Yes. You can replace just the upper arch, just the lower arch, or both, depending on what your mouth needs.
Will I really leave with teeth on the day of surgery?
Many patients do. They go home the same day with a fixed temporary bridge, and a few months later, once the implants have healed, the final bridge replaces it.
I've worn a denture for years. Can I still get fixed implant teeth?
Often, yes. Plenty of people move from a denture to a fixed bridge. Your X-rays and jaw images show how much bone you have, and bone grafting can add more where it is needed.
Is financing available for full-mouth implants?
Yes, financing options are available. You can apply with Cherry, Sunbit, CareCredit or Alphaeon, and our staff can explain how each one works.
Can I get implants if I smoke, have diabetes or have lost bone?
Smoking and health conditions like diabetes can slow healing, so Dr. Otteson goes over your medical history at the consultation. Bone loss doesn't automatically rule you out: tilted implants and bone grafting are both options.
How long is recovery, and what can I eat?
Most soreness and swelling settle within several days. You'll eat soft foods while the implants heal, and we'll tell you when to bring back firmer foods. The implants take a few months to bond with the bone, and then your final bridge is made.
How do I clean a fixed implant bridge?
Brush it twice a day like natural teeth, and clean underneath with a water flosser or a floss threader. At checkups we sometimes take the bridge off for a deeper cleaning.
How long will my implants and bridge last?
With good daily care and regular checkups, implants can last for many years. The bridge itself can wear or chip over time and may need a repair or a replacement someday.
Is there an age limit for full-mouth implants?
There is no set upper age. Your general health, your jawbone and how well you heal matter more than your age.
Where is the office?
Near East Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard. Serving Sunrise Manor, Whitney and the rest of East Las Vegas.
