Restorative Dentistry
A missing tooth doesn't have to hold you back. An implant replaces the whole tooth, root included, so you can eat, laugh and talk without thinking about it.
Why should I choose dental implants?
An implant does more than fill a gap. It's a fixed replacement anchored in your jawbone, made to look, feel and work like the tooth you lost.
Unlike a removable option, an implant stays in place. You can eat and talk without worrying about it moving. It also helps preserve your jawbone and the shape of your face over time. It costs more up front than other options, but it's built to last.
The Whole Tooth, Root Included
An implant replaces the root as well as the visible tooth. Before treatment, we review your X-rays, bone and bite so the plan fits your mouth.
All-on-X Implants
If you're missing most or all of the teeth in an arch, or they're failing, All-on-X replaces the full arch on 4 to 6 implants. You get a fixed set of teeth instead of a removable denture. This option is available with Dr. Otteson. Ask us whether you're a candidate.
The Benefits of Dental Implants
Why implants hold up better than removable options.
Natural Feel & Function
Brush, floss and eat the way you would with your own teeth.
Made to Match
Each crown is matched to your other teeth in shape, size and color, so the new tooth blends in.
Protects Your Jawbone
The titanium post bonds with your jawbone. That helps prevent the bone loss that follows a missing tooth.
Implant Solutions
Single Tooth Implants
A titanium post in the jawbone with a custom crown on top. A fixed replacement for one missing tooth.
Bone Grafting
Sometimes there isn't enough bone to support an implant yet. A bone graft can build it up first. We'll tell you at your consultation if you need one.
Planned Before Placement
We plan the position of each implant from your X-rays and exam before treatment, so placement follows a plan.
Implant-Retained Dentures
The stability of implants with the convenience of a denture. The denture snaps onto a few implants, so it doesn't slip.
The Implant Treatment Process
Placement
Once your treatment plan is set, we schedule the procedure, numb the area and place the titanium implant in your jawbone. That's the foundation.
Healing & Osseointegration
The gum heals quickly, but the implant usually takes 3 to 6 months to fuse with the bone. We check on your progress along the way.
Placing the Crown
Last, a custom crown matched to your natural teeth is attached to the implant. Your tooth is back.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a single tooth implant?
It replaces one missing tooth. A small titanium post is placed in your jawbone, and a custom crown is attached to it. Unlike a removable option, an implant is fixed in place, so it feels stable, much like a natural tooth.
How are dental implants made?
The post is made of medical-grade titanium. The crown is made for you from impressions of your teeth, often in porcelain because it's strong and looks natural.
How long will my dental implant last?
With good placement and care, implants can last for decades. The crown on top may need replacing at some point because of normal wear. Regular checkups help keep both in good shape.
Can my dental implant become infected?
It's uncommon, but an implant can develop an infection called peri-implantitis if the area isn't kept clean. Following your aftercare instructions and brushing and flossing every day lowers the risk.
Do dental implants stop bone loss?
They help. After a tooth is lost, the bone under it shrinks because nothing stimulates it. An implant acts like a tooth root and passes chewing forces to the bone, which helps keep it from shrinking.
How long does the implant process take?
For most people, several months from placement to the final crown, because the implant needs time to fuse with the bone. A bone graft adds time. We'll go over your timeline at your consultation.
